Footprints In The Sand – June 2004
I remember this trip well. I booked a trip for my mom and me a few months prior. I had some extra money and this was back in my days sans kids. I thought it’d be nice for Mom to get away. So I booked 2 tickets to Cancun for us on one of those “package deals”. It was about $2500 for flight, room and board for the week. We went, had a good time and actually ended up buying a timeshare at the Royal Sands. We like it, and thought we’d use it more, but isn’t that how the story goes with most timeshares? Maybe when the kids get a little older they’ll appreciate it.
This was also the trip I where I broke the news to her that she’d be a gramma in 6 months. We hadn’t planned on Lilla by any stretch, but here she was coming one way or the other. I think on that stance alone this photo carries some sentimental merit. I can’t pick out the perfect verse to go with it, but I gotta think it’s in there somewhere.
Across The Sand
This tut was actually a pretty interesting one to dig into. It brought me back a lot to the abstract days of kicking around the studio art degree at Whitman; it gives you a lot more creative challenges.
A couple of net adds I think that enhanced it were a few background textures to make it more 3d, I darkened the sky, added a few more clouds, tossed in lightening, reduced the amount of rain and ultimately kept some color in it.
