Anywho, this was in Tulum, Mexico which is south of Cancun. They’ve got some really excellently preserved ruins down there that made for some good shots. These ancient Mexican folks really had a sweet view of the ocean, eh?

I remember this trip well. I booked a trip for my mom and me a few months prior. I had some extra money and this was back in my days sans kids. I thought it’d be nice for Mom to get away. So I booked 2 tickets to Cancun for us on one of those “package deals”. It was about $2500 for flight, room and board for the week. We went, had a good time and actually ended up buying a timeshare at the Royal Sands. We like it, and thought we’d use it more, but isn’t that how the story goes with most timeshares? Maybe when the kids get a little older they’ll appreciate it.

This was also the trip I where I broke the news to her that she’d be a gramma in 6 months. We hadn’t planned on Lilla by any stretch, but here she was coming one way or the other. I think on that stance alone this photo carries some sentimental merit. I can’t pick out the perfect verse to go with it, but I gotta think it’s in there somewhere.
