We were walking through the Daintree rainforest with our guide and this tree really caught my eye. Most of them do this, they wind around and eat the inside of the same tree to grow the “vines” longer. This was an interesting angle I thought of it – Good color, interesting composition…

Byron Bay boasts the title of Easternmost point of Australia.  This was just looking the other way from THIS shot took pointing the other way.  There’s a lot of water separating the Byron Bay from New Zealand, and believe it or not, I couldn’t see all the way to NZ.

I really liked this shot.  The goal was to get as little of the skyline as possible and emphasize the unique clouds that were forming over the top of the city.  It was pretty cold out but we were on a boat tour of the harbour with a dinner cruise.  Heather stayed inside and I went out in the chilly weather to try to snap a few quick ones.  This one really stuck out.

Everyone has seen the Sydney Opera House 15,000,000 times from the same angles.  My goal with most of my shots is to take a shot of a subject from a unique angle.  I thought this was a good one to take it from.  The waves were coming up over the right side in the harbour, so I had to snap it off quick to keep me and the camera from getting wet.

I remember this little town south of Brisbane, Australia as a surfers town.  There were a lot of local shops that were open air and a lot of the locals had on typical surfer attire; many would be shoeless and/or shirtless.  The weather wasn’t “hot” by any means, but temperate.  The lighthouse, they say. is the Easternmost point in all of Australia as it juts out the seaboard.

We spent a good part of the day there but it was just a “drive through” stop on our trip south to Sydney from Brisbane in 2007.  We’d have liked to stay a little longer, but the agenda wasn’t plotted out for it.  Another memory I have of it is the kebabs they had at one of the open air stores.  They were in a pita setup and were surprisingly delicious.  I think this was the place.  Comes highly recommended.

This shot down from the Byron Bay lighthouse had a long way to Tallow Bay where there wasn’t anyone surfing, unusually I hear… I remember it was hard to find a parking place all the way up there, and we kept looking on the sides of the road to find somewhere to park, but eventually just ended up at the top of the hill, and lo and behold, the closest spot to the lighthouse was open. Cha-ching!

It was cold in the Blue Mountains that day I recall. We had a bad parking place up the hill, but we came around and it was very windy out, but on the left you see Three Sisters, in Katoomba, Australia and it really was staggering as to how far back it went. To the right (out of the pic) is a huge gondola carrying people across the canyon to sight see. It was well worth the trip, cold, but worth it. Oh what, you mean to the gondola? No way, it was cold and that trek was about 10 miles worth. Would have been neat, but we had other things to worry about, like the trek back to the bad parking place.
